Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s most celebrated wildlife destination and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Covering 14,763 km² of sweeping savanna, riverine forest, and acacia woodland, the Serengeti hosts the planet’s greatest wildlife spectacle: the annual Great Wildebeest Migration, in which 1.5 million wildebeest, 300,000 zebras, and 500,000 gazelles traverse the ecosystem in search of fresh grazing.
The park is divided into several distinct zones: the Central Seronera area (year-round wildlife), the Northern Serengeti near Kogatende (famous for dramatic Mara River crossings July–October), the Western Corridor (Grumeti River crossings June–July), and the Southern Ndutu Plains (calving season January–March).
Beyond the migration, the Serengeti supports one of Africa’s highest concentrations of predators — lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and wild dogs. Game drives here are unmatched in Africa.
